VIII: 8

Chapter 8, Verse 8

"Make a habit of practicing meditation
With your mind rooted in me
In an undeviating Yoga,
And you will come to me, the light-giver,
The highest of the high."

Swami Shivananda:

Abhyasa means practice.  In the practice of meditation, constantly repeat one idea of God.  Worldly thoughts or thoughts of a type contrary to the object of meditation will gradually vanish.  The most vital factor in this practice is regularity.  Be regular in your meditation practice.  You will soon reach the goal.

Father Bede Griffiths:

All devotion is fixed upon the Lord.  All is now focused on devotion to the personal God.  The mind is fixed on this, and nothing else.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind." (Gospel of Luke, 10:27)

Paramahansa Yogananda:

As Yogis learn to relax the Life-force from the five sense-telephones, they automatically find that sensations have vanished from their consciousness.  Thus freed, their minds become magnetized towards everlasting communion with Spirit.

Srila Prabhupada:

A caterpillar thinks of becoming a butterfly and is transformed into a butterfly in the same life.
