V: 11

Chapter 5, Verse 11

"Surrendering attachment,
The sages perform their actions.
Body and mind,
Sense-organs and discerning faculty,
These are instruments only.
The wise know themselves
To be other than the instruments,
And thus their hearts are pure.

Paramahansa Yogananda:

"The nerves are the main pathways of life force in the body. They correspond to the subtler and more intricate currents (Nadis) of the subtle body. The flow of the life force is from the head out through the senses, a process that attracts the consciousness to material objects. These outward-bent nerve impulses and their gross state of sense entanglement run contrary to soul intuition. Yogis therefore follow proper diet, practice Asana, Pranayama and meditation to purify the nerves so that they become spirit-bent channels, withdrawing the consciousness from the senses. By practicing these allied disciplines with deep devotion, one can purify the body, mind and heart to serve as instruments of God's will."

Srila Prabhupada:

"When you apply everything produced by the body, mind, intelligence, words, wealth, etc. to Krishna's service, you are at once dovetailed with Krishna. This is the perfect stage of Krishna consciousness."
